General Information

Book Club Parties are a fun way to celebrate books and reading.

Each Mother/Daughter pair is asked to read the book (listening to the book read aloud counts!), bring an object that represents something from the book that you really enjoyed, and come ready to get excited about the wonderful world of reading. Each party will include circle time discussion, related craft and a treat. Mothers (or other caring party interested in creating a love of reading) and daughters should attend together.

We will hold Book Club Parties on the Fourth Saturday of each month from 2:30 to 4:00. Exceptions are in parentheses.

Ages 6-8: April 24, July 31 (fifth Saturday), October 23,
Ages 9-11: March 27, June 26, September 25
Ages 12 and up: May 22, August 28, November 20 (third Saturday)

March 27: The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart (Ages 9-11)
April 24: Clementine by Sarah Pennypacker (Ages 6-8)
May 22: The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner (Ages 12 and up)
June 26: Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones (Ages 9-11)
July 31: Mr. Popper's Penguins Richard and Florence Atwater (Ages 6-8)
August 28: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld (Ages 12 and up)
September 25: The Sister's Grimm by Michael Buckley (Ages 9-11)
October 23: The Witch Family by Eleanor Estes (Ages 6-8)
November 20: The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt (Ages 12 and up)

The cost is $3 per pair (per party) and includes admission, one craft to be completed together, and a treat for both Mom and Daughter. Please pay at the circulation desk at the library. You may pay for all of the parties you plan to attend or party by party. There is a limit of 10 pairs per party.

The Library will have multiple copies of the chosen party books, but unfortunately we won't have enough copies for each pair to have a library copy. If you are planning on attending a party later in the year, it might be a good idea to get it from the library well in advance. Remember an American Fork Library card allows you to borrow books from other libraries such as Pleasant Grove, Highland, and Eagle Mountain libraries.

If you have questions, please comment on the blog or email Shauna at bookclubparty@gmail.com

Happy Reading!
